Republic Commandos (or Clone Commandos) were the elite, specialized special forces units of the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars.Unlike standard, mass-produced clone troopers who fought in large-scale frontline blocks, commandos were engineered to be more independent, tactically adaptive, and fiercely lethal.
After the fall of the Republic and the execution of Order 66, the newly formed Galactic Empire didn’t discard them immediately like they did with the regular "regs" (standard clone troopers). Being elite assets, the Empire repurposed them.
